The long and short of it: This 2 handle Monitor 14 Series Shower Control with Integrated 3-setting 2-outlet port Diverter sold COMPLETE with Rough-in Valve is the perfect base for creating a Custom Shower System. The single bottom handle allows you to turn on the shower and the top handle operates the diverter function.
The large bottom lever rotates counter-clockwise to turn on the water. This shower control is both pressure and temperature balanced. This means as you rotate the handle, the volume of water will quickly reach its maximum flow rate. Continuing to turn the lever will increase the temperature to a preset maximum.
This item also features a built-in 3-setting diverter. The handle you see in the upper portion of the shower control panel is for operating the diverter. The diverter’s function is to divert water. Once the water is on and flowing at the temperature you set, you need to send it to the spray outlets. This 3-setting diverter allows for 2 peripheral spray outlets. It is the key to supplying water to these shower sprays. With the 3-setting integrated diverter, you can configure a shower system with a normal shower head and a handheld shower. Another configuration might be a ceiling mount shower head and a set of wall mount body sprays. The different diverter settings allow you to choose which sprays will be on at any given time. With a total of 3 settings you have 2 individual positions and 1 shared position. This means you can run either shower spray individually or both together. This fixture INCLUDES the required Rough-in Valve. The Valve is the part that installs in the wall and connects to your home’s hot and cold water supply. The Valve included with this item is the R22000 MultiChoice Universal with Integrated Diverter one-piece forged Rough-in Valve without Stops. This unique fixture merges a shower mixing valve and a diverter valve into a single unit, allowing it to serve as the main valve for a full custom shower system. Delta has manufactured all of their Integrated Shower Faucet Control with Diverter Trim kits (the part of the Shower you actually see) to all fit the same Valve. In the future, if you ever plan to change the style or finish of your Integrated Diverter Shower Fixture, you will not need to change out the Valve in the wall (as long as you stick with Delta as the manufacturer). This saves you from having to rip out tile or go through other hassles to change the style of your shower. You can just swap out the old with the new. This advantage allows you to stay up to date with the latest design and home decor trends! The R22000 Valve has back-to-back installation capability and is pressure balanced to keep water within a safe +/- 3-degrees F.
